Robert Belcher Antiques has dated this Regency Mahogany Wine Cooler to the Regency era.

The well-proportioned case displays the characteristic architectural form of the Regency period, combining imposing presence with a refined simplicity of ornament. The magnificent figured mahogany is complemented by a deep, warm colour and a richly developed patina, enhancing the inherent beauty of the veneer.

The interior retains its original lead lining, consistent with its intended use as a wine cooler. Of particular note is the survival of its original brass fittings, including the casters, lock, folding stay and hinges, the latter retaining their stamped marks. The preservation of these original elements contributes significantly to the authenticity and integrity of the piece.

A particularly fine example of Regency domestic furniture, this wine cooler is distinguished by the exceptional quality of its mahogany, its understated elegance and its remarkably original state of preservation. It is one of the finest examples of this type we have had the pleasure of handling.

The wine cooler is in very good condition, with an attractive rich colour and patina, and retains its original lead lining and brass hardware.
