We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Sofa tables originated in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, designed to sit directly behind a sofa to hold reading materials, writing implements, or tea services. They typically featured drop leaves to alter surface area as required.

High-grade dense hardwoods such as rosewood, mahogany, and walnut were predominantly used, often paired with oak or pine drawer linings, hand-cut dovetail joinery, and solid brass castors.

Authentic period pieces display distinct dark grain figure variations inherent to genuine rosewood, hand-carved decorative elements, hand-sawn timber marks on unexposed areas, and natural oxidisation across the surface.

Positioning a dark timber piece behind a contemporary sofa or within an entryway introduces architectural weight and structural interest that balances minimalist, neutral room schemes.

Dust surfaces regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish periodically to nourish the wood. Keep the item away from direct radiator heat and prolonged sunlight to prevent grain splitting.
