Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This nineteenth-century French work table belongs to the Louis XV Revival style and is constructed from figured and quartered walnut veneer with warm brown tones, complemented by brass ormolu mounts. The surface displays a parquetry veneer layout, and the single front drawer carries an ornate rococo-style brass handle, while the structure rests on curved cabriole legs fitted with decorative brass mounts at the knees and feet. Measuring 76 cm in height, 56 cm in width, and 43 cm in depth, the piece stands in excellent condition. Placed at the end of a sofa or beside an armchair, this side table serves as a functional surface for lamps, books, or decorative objects while adding continental character to a living room or study. The compact proportions allow it to fit neatly into smaller spaces, providing both display space and concealed storage within its drawer for daily essentials.

These tables, often referred to as tables a ouvrage, typically feature refined proportions, cabriole legs, inlaid veneers, and functional drawers designed to store needlework or writing materials.

Craftspeople predominantly utilised woods such as walnut, rosewood, and kingwood, often embellished with parquetry or marquetry veneers and detailed cast brass or bronze ormolu mounts.

Authentic period pieces display hand-cut joinery, hand-applied veneers with slight age contraction, period-correct metal hardware showing natural oxidisation, and timber displaying a deep patina.

A small occasional table functions effectively as a side table beside an armchair, a bedside nightstand, or an accent piece in a hallway or reading nook to introduce warm wood tones.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying or fading, dust regularly with a soft cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish periodically to maintain the finish.
