Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian nursery screen functions as a folding draft screen, standing 147 cm high, 147 cm wide, and 4 cm deep. The three-panel freestanding piece uses warm brown mahogany, inlaid wood, and paper, joined by visible brass hinges. Each graduated vertical panel holds glazed sections displaying printed silhouette illustrations of nursery rhyme figures against a cream-coloured background. Below the glazed view, solid wooden bases feature marquetry swags in lighter timber tones. The wooden frames have simple straight mouldings and clean right-angled corners, resting directly on the floor without raised feet. Placed in an empty corner of a living room, bedroom, or hallway, the screen divides interior spaces or hides plain walls while allowing light through the upper panes. The graduated heights of the panels create a descending diagonal line across the top edge when viewed from the front.

Victorian nursery screens were functional draft barriers designed to shelter young children from cool indoor air currents while displaying educational or decorative prints.

These screens commonly combine dense hardwoods such as mahogany or walnut with inlaid marquetry, brass folding hinges, and paper illustrations or textile panels.

Genuine examples feature period double-acting brass hinges, signs of natural timber oxidisation, and hand-applied paper prints displaying age-consistent toning.

A folding screen can be placed in an empty corner to add vertical interest, positioned behind furniture to conceal quiet work zones, or used as a decorative backdrop.

The timber frame requires light dusting with a dry cloth and occasional application of natural beeswax, while paper artwork panels should be kept away from direct sunlight.
