Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Freestanding wooden towel horses were introduced in nineteenth-century homes before fitted plumbing and heated radiators became standard. Positioned near washstands or fireplaces in bedrooms and dressing rooms, they served to hold and dry personal linens.

Victorian towel rails were typically constructed from hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, or oak. The structural joints were formed using mortise and tenon joinery, while the horizontal crossbars and upright supports were shaped on a wood lathe.

Authentic nineteenth-century pieces display hand-turned upright supports, natural wear along the foot rails, and aged patina in the wood grain. Constructive details like hand-fitted peg joints and original french polish finishes distinguish genuine antiques from modern reproductions.

An antique towel rail functions well in modern spaces when placed at the foot of a bed or in a guest room to drape quilts and blankets. Alternatively, it can be styled in a bathroom to display folded linen towels.

Apply a natural beeswax polish periodically along the wooden rails to protect the timber finish. Ensure modern wet towels are not left soaking on raw french polish surfaces to prevent moisture marking.
