Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large antique round dining table dates from 1930 in the Victorian style, constructed from warm brown burr pollard oak and contrasting ebony. The circular top displays a moulded edge, radial burr oak veneer, and distinctive geometric ebony inlay forming a spider web pattern alongside an ebony inlaid circular centre. Four ebonised bobbin turned tapering legs support the structure, terminating in brass feet. The piece measures 76 cm high, 180.5 cm wide, and 180.5 cm deep. Positioned in a spacious dining room or kitchen, this table comfortably accommodates family meals and formal dinner gatherings. The bold patterning of the timber top combined with the turned supports provides a striking focal point for interior schemes seeking traditional character. Daily use for dining, entertaining, or hosting meetings suits its generous proportions.

FAQs

Victorian pollard oak furniture features distinctly figured grain harvested from pruned oak trees, frequently accentuated by geometric inlays and dark ebonised turned details typical of 19th-century cabinetmaking.

These tables typically feature a solid timber frame faced with decorative burr or pollard oak veneers, bordered by dense contrasting hardwood inlays such as ebony, and finished with brass fittings.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut veneer layers, natural patination across timber surfaces, traditional joinery techniques, and period-appropriate ebonised or turned leg structures.

Position the circular table centrally within a room beneath a contemporary pendant fixture, pairing it with simple upholstered chairs to balance the detailed geometric woodwork.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply natural beeswax along the wood grain, keeping the table away from direct heat sources to prevent veneer separation.
