Coat of Arms Hand Painted Dutch Nanninga Uitterdyke

Description

This a good decorative gilt polychrome coat of arms circa 1890. The solid oak carved panel is attractively hand painted and gilded with the Latin motto “Fac et Spera “. ( DO AND HOPE ). The crest is of the Dutch family of Nanninga Uitterdijk which primarily refers to Juren Nanninga Uitterdijk 1848-1919, a notable Dutch archivist, lawyer and historical publisher.

The arms features a central shield surmounted by jousting helmet, surrounded by scrolling acanthus, with the motto above framed in gilded carving. The panel is edged with carved gilded acanthus scrolls with a central gilt crest.

This is a good size for display measuring 116 cms by 55 cms.
