Early French Fruitwood Console with Drawer

19th century
Description

A late 18th or early 19th century French farmhouse serving table on stretchered base with large drawer.

Bearing significant wear from use and historic repairs consistent with age, it's made from fruitwood - likely wild cherry ('merisier').

Sitting on chunky, square chamfered legs, it was built to last and over hundreds of years has developed the kind of rich patination that simply can't be replicated. It's been finished with a wax polish to enrich it's colour and preserve that wonderful look.
