Produced primarily between 1830 and 1837, William IV library tables bridge the Regency and early Victorian eras, typically featuring robust carved proportions, gadrooned edges, twin pedestal supports, and heavy scroll feet.

These tables were commonly crafted from high-grade solid mahogany or rosewood veneers over oak or pine carcasses, utilizing hand-cut dovetail joints, brass castors, and hand-carved decorative aprons.

Look for signs of hand-planing on timber undersides, natural shrinkage marks around joints, original cast-brass castors, and uneven patina consistent with age and hand-finished french polish.

Position the table as a freestanding focal point in a home office or formal study, pairing its dark timber tones with neutral walls, contemporary task lighting, and structured leather seating.

Keep timber surfaces away from direct sunlight and central heating sources, clean regularly with a soft dry cloth, and apply a high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year.
