A charming and beautifully understated George I Oak side table, dating to the early 18th century, with wonderfully simple lines and exceptional colour and patina.

The table features a substantial three-plank oak top, displaying a superb depth of colour and a beautifully developed, rich, mellow patina acquired over centuries of use.

Raised on elegant moulded and chamfered legs, united by a central stretcher, the table is traditionally constructed with pegged mortice-and-tenon joints. Its restrained design and honest construction are characteristic of early English country furniture.

The simplicity of this piece is its greatest appeal, allowing the wonderful grain, exceptional colour and naturally aged surface of the oak to take centre stage.
