Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian cast iron garden furniture is defined by intricate, naturalistic patterns cast directly into heavy iron frames, often depicting flora, foliage, or rustic branches. Popularised during the industrial expansion of the mid-19th century, these pieces were designed to withstand outdoor elements while offering ornate decorative detail.

These benches typically combine heavy molten cast iron for the decorative side frames and support structures with wooden timber slats, such as oak or pitch pine, for the seating and back support.

Authentic period pieces feature crisp, detailed casting marks, significant physical weight, and often foundry registration stamps or numbers cast into the iron frame. Crisp botanical reliefs, subtle casting seams, and evidence of historical paint layers or natural oxidisation also indicate age.

These benches can be positioned as focal points along garden pathways, placed against exterior brick walls, or integrated into sunrooms and conservatories to bridge indoor and outdoor spaces.

To maintain painted cast iron, inspect the surface regularly for paint chips and seal exposed metal with a rust-inhibiting primer. Clean the surfaces gently with warm soapy water and a soft brush, avoiding harsh abrasive chemicals.
