Billy Hunt and Co is located on a large Victorian farm just a short country drive from the Rangemore village, a designated conservation area, which was built by Michael Thomas Bass in the 1850s to house the Bass Rangemore Estate workers consisting mainly of Victorian redbrick cottages and the occasional barn.

Our home is a classic Victorian designed and well equipped late 19th century 2 story red brick built barn of some 4000 sq feet nestled in classic English countryside, which enjoyed a careful full renovation in 2000. The estate still benefits being managed in the traditional manner with an Estate Manger, estate carpenter, gardeners etc. A rather delightful place to have as our work space.

Martina, there is no Billy at Billy hunt, has led the team since 2103 and is an interior designer qualified from The Inchbald School of Design London whose previous working life included such clients as Vertu, Aston Martin and Johnnie Walker to name a few.

Please do not hesitate to call or email if you have any questions on the pieces that may interest you - Many thanks Martina

This Victorian side table dates from 1880 and takes the form of a small desk with a single long drawer. The piece is constructed from solid oak with a dark brown finish, featuring intricate foliate relief carving across the drawer front alongside a central carved green man face. Further decorative elements include a shaped gallery splashback with a carved lion mask motif, bulbous turned front legs, moulded edge details, and historic surface wear consistent with age. Overall measurements stand at 74 cm in table height, 91.5 cm to the top of the upstand, 90 cm in width, and 53.5 cm in depth. Practical for everyday use in a period or modern home, this side table serves well in a hallway, reception room, or stairway landing as a decorative display surface or small workspace. The single drawer provides concealed storage for small items, whilst the upper surface accommodates small daily objects. The sturdy four-legged frame and traditional construction make it ready for placement in multiple interior settings.

Popular in the late 19th century, Jacobean Revival furniture draws inspiration from 17th-century English designs, featuring dark stained oak, heavy hand carving, geometric mouldings, and elaborate turned legs.

These tables were primarily crafted from solid English or European oak, often finished with dark stain or wax polish, and joined using traditional hand-cut dovetail joints and mortise-and-tenon framing.

Authentic late Victorian pieces display hand-carved decorative motifs, original dovetail drawer joinery, uneven wood shrinkage along planks, and authentic age-related wear or oxidisation around joinery and turnings.

Balance the visual weight and ornate carving of dark oak by pairing it with neutral wall tones, minimalist contemporary lighting, and simple ceramic or glass art objects.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources or high humidity to prevent warping.
