Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Edwardian side table dates to approximately 1910 and follows traditional English country house styles. Constructed from solid oak with a dark brown finish, the piece features an octagonal top decorated with a border of scrolling acanthus carving and a moulded edge. Below the top sits a shaped apron with foliate carving, supported by four cabriole legs that terminate in large ball and claw feet. The woodwork displays an even polished sheen from wax finishing. Measuring 73.5 cm in height with a width and depth of 78.5 cm, the table fits comfortably into a living room setting, functioning as an occasional surface positioned at the end of a sofa or beside an armchair for lamps and books. Its compact footprint makes it practical for smaller spaces while providing a sturdy display area.

FAQs

Edwardian oak furniture often features revival motifs from earlier periods, including Chippendale ball-and-claw feet and Jacobean foliate carving, combined with lighter, more elegant proportions than Victorian predecessors.

Solid English oak, mahogany, and walnut were the predominant timber choices, finished with wax or varnish to enhance the natural grain and depth of colour.

Authentic pieces from around 1910 feature hand-carved decorative elements, natural age-related patina, traditional joinery techniques, and period-appropriate wear on the base and feet.

Position the table beside a modern sofa or armchair to create contrast, using the top surface to display minimal modern ceramics or contemporary table lamps.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the timber and protect the original finish.
