Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced around the turn of the twentieth century, Asian export silver walking canes were created primarily for Western travelers and export markets. Local artisans in regions such as China and India combined traditional metalworking techniques with European dress cane formats to create decorative accessories.

These pieces typically feature high-grade or sterling silver handles worked using repousse and chasing techniques. The silver pommels are mounted onto sturdy natural timber or polished bamboo shafts fitted with metal or horn ferrules.

Authentic period examples demonstrate hand-hammered relief work showing detailed figurative or botanical motifs. Look for period character marks, silver artisan stamps, traditional joining methods between the handle and shaft, and natural surface patination.

A decorative walking cane can be placed upright in a vintage ceramic or brass umbrella stand, presented inside a glass display case, or mounted horizontally on a wall within an office or entrance hall.

Dust the silver handle gently with a soft cloth and use a silver polishing cloth sparingly to preserve darker oxidisation in the recessed details. Keep the bamboo shaft away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture to prevent warping or cracking.
