Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Harvest tables originated as large utilitarian surfaces designed to seat agricultural workers during harvesting seasons. Typically crafted from native softwoods or hardwoods, these long, narrow tables featured sturdy construction and simple legs.

Victorian country tables were predominantly constructed from solid pine or pitch pine, often held together with traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Bases were frequently painted or stained to protect the softwood, while tops were left exposed or scrubbed.

Authentic Victorian examples display hand-planed board tops, square or turned pegged legs, and evidence of historic wear around footrests and aprons. Look for hand-cut dovetails on end drawers and natural timber shrinkage consistent with age.

Combine a long rustic table with contemporary minimalist dining chairs or sleek metal frames to create visual contrast. Placing light-toned stoneware or a modern pendant light overhead highlights the textural patina of the timber.

Maintain the wood by wiping spills immediately with a damp, soft cloth and applying a clear wax polish periodically. Avoid placing hot items directly on the bare timber and keep the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent warping.
