A George III butlers tray is a late 18th-century wooden serving vessel designed with raised sides and cut-out handles to assist domestic staff in transporting tableware and refreshments.

Georgian butler trays were primarily constructed from dense mahogany or oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints and carved pierced handles along the gallery walls.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joinery, uneven wood shrinkage across the base, hand-planed underside surfaces, and natural timber oxidisation.

Position the tray on a large ottoman, coffee table, or sideboard to group smaller decorative objects, books, or glassware within an interior space.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish periodically, taking care to wipe away spills immediately to prevent water marks.
