A posset pot is a specialized ceramic vessel designed to serve posset, a popular historic British beverage made of hot milk curdled with ale or wine and spiced.

Seventeenth-century Delftware was produced from coarse clay fired into earthenware, coated with an opaque white tin glaze, and painted with metallic oxides such as cobalt before a final firing.

Authentic pieces feature soft earthenware bodies, characteristic glaze pinholes or slight rim chipping, unglazed base rims, and freehand painted decoration in cobalt blue or polychrome oxides.
