This coffee table dates from 1930 in a Neoclassical style. The piece pairs a heavy rectangular marble top with a dark stained wood base and polished brass details. The jet black slab displays dramatic interwoven gold and bronze veining across its polished surface. Four tapered legs terminate in detailed brass paw feet, accented by ornate brass collars and mounts near the upper sections. The structure measures 47 cm high, offering a low surface well-suited for living spaces. This table functions practically as a central coffee surface in a sitting room or drawing room. Placed before a sofa, it provides a stable display area for everyday items or decorative plants. The combination of dark stone and warm metal tones complements a range of interior palettes from traditional to modern settings. Solid construction ensures stability for daily use within a domestic environment.

FAQs

Neoclassical low tables draw design inspiration from classical antiquity, featuring symmetrical proportions, tapered legs, and decorative cast brass or bronze mounts.

These tables generally combine polished marble slabs with hardwood frames, turned legs, and cast brass or gilt metal decorative fittings.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut undersides on stone tops, threaded cast metal mounts, natural aged oxidisation, and traditional mortise and tenon joinery.

Position the table as a central focal point within a seating area, balancing the polished stone surface with soft textiles and upholstered furniture.

Wipe marble surfaces immediately after spills using a neutral pH cleaner to prevent etching, and clean brass fittings with a dry microfibre cloth without chemical polishes.
