Art Deco Papier-mâché Female Display Bust

Description

A lovely Art Deco female display bust dating from the early 20th century. Constructed from moulded composition materials incorporating paper and wood fibres, the bust retains its original hand-painted finish and depicts a young woman with a fashionable bobbed hairstyle synonymous with the Art Deco period.

Originally produced for use in a millinery, fashion, or department store display, the bust retains its original painted finish and exhibits the honest wear and patina through decades of use. The interior reveals traditional layered paper construction.
