We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This unusual eighteenth-century side table is an eighteenth-century Georgian piece made from dark brown oak with brass hardware. The construction incorporates a single long drawer at the top fitted with decorative brass drop handles and a central escutcheon plate. Below the drawer, the base contains twin open arched bays framed by carved fluted columns with Corinthian capitals, set against a panelled wooden back. The exterior displays a rich dark brown wood grain finish showing age-appropriate wear and character. Measuring 100 cm high, 110 cm wide, and 38 cm deep, the table fits neatly against a hallway wall or beside the front door. In a modern home, this practical and distinctive item serves well in an entrance hall or corridor for storing small daily items while offering a striking architectural display. The slim profile ensures it does not take up excessive floor space, making it useful in narrower living areas or reception rooms. It suits traditional English country house interiors or period properties, providing both surface display space and lower architectural detail that complements classic architectural schemes without overwhelming the surrounding room layout.

Eighteenth-century architectural side tables feature classical proportions influenced by Roman and Greek columns, arcading, and detailed timber joinery, serving as functional server or hallway pieces in period interiors.

These tables were constructed from solid European or English oak, utilizing hand-cut dovetail drawer joints, mortise and tenon joinery, panelled backs, and cast brass hardware such as drop handles and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic period examples feature hand-planed timber surfaces, slight asymmetry from age, natural wood shrinkage along the grain, original wooden securing pegs, and aged patination around hand-cast brass metalwork.

Position the table in an entryway or living space, pairing the dark structured wood with modern minimalist ceramics or minimalist artwork to create a balanced dialogue between historical craftsmanship and contemporary decor.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, dry lint-free cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish annually to nourish the wood, keeping the item away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture.
