Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A dairy prep table was traditionally utilised in rural estates and farmhouses during the 19th century for processing butter, cheese, and food items. These functional worktables typically featured scrubbed timber tops, such as sycamore or pine, which resisted moisture and provided a hygienic surface for food preparation.

Country tables from this era were constructed using locally sourced hardwoods and softwoods, predominantly pine, oak, ash, and sycamore. Hand-cut dovetail joints, pegged mortise and tenon joinery, and turned wooden drawer knobs were standard structural characteristics.

Authentic pieces feature signs of age including hand-planed surfaces, uneven wear on drawer runners, original wooden pegs, and hand-cut joinery. Natural timber shrinkage over time often produces slight irregularity in the proportions of top planks.

An antique prep table functions effectively as a hall console, a kitchen island, or a dining room sideboard in contemporary interiors. Positioning modern ceramics or minimalist lamps atop the wooden surface creates a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Clean the surface regularly using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp cloth with mild soap, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners. Applying a natural beeswax paste periodically protects the raw timber finish and preserves the natural patina without altering the wood colour.
