A Georgian tilt top table is an 18th-century piece of furniture featuring a circular or square top attached to a hinge block on a central tripod pedestal, allowing the surface to tilt vertically when not in use.

These tables were typically crafted from solid dense timbers such as mahogany, oak, or walnut, supported by a turned central column and hand-carved tripod legs.

Authentic pieces generally display hand-cut dovetails on the underside mounting block, iron or brass catches with age-appropriate oxidisation, and hand-turned central pedestals showing slight structural variations.

Place the table in an empty corner with the surface tilted upright to display the timber grain, or set it flat beside an armchair as an occasional side table.

Dust the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply beeswax polish periodically, keeping the wood away from direct heat sources and moist environments to prevent warping.
