A handsome late Georgian mahogany snap-top occasional table, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, of elegant proportions and useful scale.
The well-figured circular top is of dished form with a raised moulded edge, retaining a rich warm mahogany colour and attractive aged patina developed over years of use. The top tilts in the traditional manner via the original snap-top mechanism, allowing the table to be stored neatly against a wall when not in use.
Raised on a turned gun-barrel column terminating in a graceful tripod base with elegantly shaped cabriole legs and pad feet, giving the piece a pleasingly refined silhouette.
A wonderfully versatile antique table, ideal as a lamp table, wine table, occasional table or beside a reading chair. The classic Georgian proportions allow it to sit comfortably in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
A smart and decorative example of practical English country house furniture.
