Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A George III demi-lune console table is a semi-circular accent table crafted during the reign of King George III in Britain (17601820). Characterised by classical proportions and refined woodwork, these tables were designed to sit flush against a wall in entry halls or reception rooms.

Cabinetmakers during the George III period predominantly utilised imported mahogany, favoured for its structural strength and rich grain figures. The structural frames typically featured solid timber, often embellished with flame mahogany veneers and subtle string inlay.

Authentic 18th-century pieces display hand-sawn timber marks, hand-cut joinery on internal structures, and irregular, hand-planed undersides. Secondary woods such as pine or oak are commonly visible underneath, accompanied by natural timber shrinkage and aged patina.

Demi-lune tables can be placed individually in narrow hallways to maximise floor space or arranged as a pair flanking a doorway or fireplace. Styling the surface with a table lamp, decorative bowl, or mounted artwork above creates a balanced focal point.

Preserve mahogany surfaces by dusting regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and strong sunlight to prevent timber movement and finish fading.
