This German folk art wall panel dates from circa 1800 and is carved from natural oak with a medium-brown wood tone. The high-relief carving depicts Christ on his way to Calvary carrying the cross, surrounded by biblical narrative figures beneath an arched pediment with scrollwork moulding. Visible signs of age include historical wear across the wooden surface, visible repairs where a more modern piece of wood is attached to the back and shows through where the original carving has worn away, and a horizontal split running across the panel boards.
