FAQs

Trestle tables date back to medieval times when boards were laid across supporting trestles for meals and then taken down to save space, evolving into fixed furniture during the Renaissance.

Authentic period pieces are traditionally constructed from heavy heartwood oak or fruitwoods, joined using mortise and tenon joinery secured with wooden pegs or metal brackets.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural timber shrinkage, hand-planed surface irregularities, period-appropriate joinery, and patination consistent with centuries of age and use.

Pairing a rustic wooden table with contemporary minimalist seating or industrial lighting creates a balanced juxtaposition between historical character and modern design.

Maintain antique oak by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations, periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber without sealing it.
