This large English 18th-century farmhouse table comes from the Georgian period. Constructed from oak and elm, the piece exhibits a dark brown colour with a restored finish that preserves its original patination, showing visible wood grain, natural knots and surface wear across the timber. The structure consists of a thick plank top paired with square legs joined by end stretchers, complemented by shaped spandrel brackets to the apron. The table stands 78 cm high, 315 cm wide and 94 cm deep. In a contemporary home, this rustic farmhouse table functions as a statement dining table or a centrepiece for a large kitchen space. The design accommodates daily family dining or larger gatherings, providing a practical surface for everyday use while serving as a prominent focal point within an interior setting.

An 18th-century English farmhouse table is typically characterised by a solid timber construction, long plank top, and sturdy stretcher base, originally designed as a functional dining and work surface for country homes.

These tables were commonly crafted from native hardwoods such as oak, elm, or pine, utilising mortise and tenon joinery and wooden dowels to ensure structural integrity without metal fasteners.

Authentic pieces display signs of historical wear including hand-planed top surfaces, hand-cut wooden pegs, natural timber shrinkage, and deep patination around high-touch areas.

An antique farmhouse table serves as a focal point when paired with modern dining chairs, minimalist lighting, or neutral textiles to balance rustic textures with contemporary lines.

Preserve the finish by applying beeswax polish sparingly along the grain, wiping spills immediately, and using protective mats under heated or moist items.
