Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Frog mugs, also known as surprise cups, are novelty drinking vessels featuring a three-dimensional ceramic amphibian inside, designed to startle or amuse the drinker as the liquid level recedes. Popular in late 18th and 19th-century Britain, these vessels were frequently produced for tavern settings or presented as commemorative loving cups.

Pearlware is a white-glazed earthenware ceramic developed in the late 18th century, characterised by a cobalt-tinted glaze that pools blueish in crevices. The moulded interior figures were individually cast and attached before underglaze or overglaze hand painting was executed.

Authentic pearlware displays a faint blue hue where glaze gathers around foot rims, handles, and moulded relief details. Authentic examples display evidence of hand-applied brushwork rather than mechanical transfer printing, along with age-appropriate wear on the base.

Display the vessel on a mantelpiece, open kitchen dresser, or bookshelf alongside period glassware to highlight its twin handles and hand-painted motifs. Positioning the object at eye level ensures the interior moulded detail remains visible.

Clean gently using lukewarm water and a mild detergent applied with a soft cloth, avoiding prolonged immersion if the glaze exhibits crazing. Keep the object away from extreme temperature fluctuations and wipe dry immediately after cleaning.
