Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in early 19th-century Britain, Regency card tables were designed as decorative occasional tables that could be swivelled and unfolded into a felt-lined gaming surface. They typically features classical proportions, neoclassical brass inlays, turned pedestals, and carved organic details such as paw feet.

Cabinetmakers of the Regency era favoured exotic hardwoods, particularly rosewood and mahogany, often enhanced with brass stringing, cut brass marquetry, and polished brass castors. Internal surfaces were frequently fitted with baize or velvet for card playing.

Authentic pieces display hand-carved details, hand-cut dovetail joints on internal frames, and signs of natural timber shrinkage over time. Look for characteristic design elements of the era, such as sabre legs, fluted pedestal columns, brass star or scroll motifs, and lion paw feet.

When closed, a Regency card table functions as an elegant hall console or side table beneath artwork or a mirror. The dark rosewood and brass accents create a striking contrast against minimalist contemporary walls or complement layered traditional decor.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying, cracking, or lifting of brass inlays. Apply high-quality beeswax periodically along the grain and dust with a soft, lint-free cloth, avoiding liquid chemicals or abrasive polishes.
