In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Staffordshire figures are earthenware pottery ornaments produced in the Staffordshire potteries region of England, predominantly during the Victorian era. They were designed as affordable decorative items for middle and working-class homes, frequently featuring flat backs to sit neatly on narrow mantelpieces.

These ornaments were press-moulded from local earthenware clay and fired before receiving a white lead glaze. Details were applied using underglaze colours or overglaze polychrome enamels, often finished with lustre glazes or gilt accents.

Authentic 19th-century pieces generally display light visual weight due to thin earthenware moulding, a small release hole on the base or lower back, glaze crazing, and gentle wear to overglaze enamels. Flatback designs with plain, unpainted reverse sides are typical of mid-to-late Victorian production.

Place figures on mantelpieces, bookshelves, or sideboards to add historic character. Grouping items in pairs or small asymmetrical clusters creates visual texture within traditional, maximalist, or modern country interior schemes.

Dust figures gently with a soft dry brush or microfiber cloth. Avoid immersion in water, chemical cleaners, or scrubbing, as this can strip vulnerable overglaze enamel paint and gilding.
