Staffordshire figures are earthenware ceramic ornaments produced in large quantities in Staffordshire, England, during the 19th century. Typically press-moulded with flat unglazed backs designed to stand against walls or mantelpieces, these statues commemorated royalty, folk heroes, animals, and historical events.

These figures were created using ceramic clay pressed into multi-part plaster moulds. After initial firing into biscuit porcelain or earthenware, they received a clear lead glaze followed by hand-painted enamel details applied over the glaze and fired a second time at a lower temperature.

Authentic 19th-century pieces feature light weight, soft moulding details, natural glaze crazing, and small vent holes to release air during firing. The bases are generally unglazed with smooth wear around the rim, while overglaze enamels often show age-related rub marks and paint wear.
