Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Edme Samson founded Samson, Edme et Cie in Paris in 1845, specializing in reproducing famous ceramics from factories like Chelsea, Meissen, and Sevres. These 19th-century pieces replicated 18th-century Rococo pastoral figures with high technical precision.

Antique porcelain figures were typically cast in moulds using hard-paste or soft-paste porcelain before being kiln-fired. They were then hand-painted with overglaze enamels, gilded, and adorned with detailed hand-modelled elements like flowers and foliage.

Samson pieces are generally crafted from a heavier, whiter hard-paste porcelain compared to 18th-century English soft-paste originals. Samson also marked items with their own variations of historical factory marks, often painted overglaze rather than underglaze.

Display porcelain figurines on a mantelpiece, inside a glass display cabinet, or atop a stack of art books on a console table. Grouping them with botanical elements or placing them against dark cabinetry highlights their intricate painted details.

Dust the figurine regularly using a dry, soft cosmetic brush to avoid snagging delicate porcelain flowers or fingers. Never immerse the item in water or use chemical detergents, as these can damage gilding and overglaze enamel paintwork.
