A Rare British Folk Art First World War Tin Model Of A War Ship.
 
Crafted naively and beautifully out of Smith’s Potato Crisp boxes, early twentieth century.
 
The hull and superstructure with original grey and black Smith’s Crisp’s tin lithographed exterior, three painted tinplate funnels, eight hinged guns on sides, two rotating gun turrets with two barrels to deck, working rudder, two masts with rigging and flags, standing on the deck are four British lead sailors in straw hats.
 
At the base of the ship there is a slip of metal with nail holes spelling out the maker’s name ‘K. Coulbeck’ and underneath scratched ‘Grimsby’.
