An original 1920s George Philips and Co, otherwise a Philips Challenge antique globe, 13.5” diameter upon a round mahogany stand.
Presented in original condition with a charming timeworn patina, showing some areas of wear to the paper map areas, see photos, the map is intact and complete with areas of some minor wear which is generally considered normal for a globe of this period.
A handsome scale with measures apx 46cm tall, base 18cm diameter.
The globe operates and sits well, it turns comfortably but doesn’t spin fast or freely, it requires gentle movement by hand but very much fit for purpose albeit, these are now mostly used as an antique collectors piece and handles with care.
