FAQs

Traditional French farmhouse tables typically feature robust timber construction, generous proportions designed for communal dining, and utilitarian apron drawers, reflecting their origins as hardworking centrepieces in rural French homes.

These tables are traditionally crafted from regional European hardwoods such as oak, cherry, or fruitwood, utilizing mortise and tenon joinery and pegged joints to ensure structural durability.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate tool marks, hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage, and natural patination accumulated through decades of use, distinguishing them from modern distressed reproductions.

Pairing a rustic wooden table with minimalist modern seating creates a balanced contrast, highlighting the historic texture and warmth of the natural timber within a contemporary space.

Maintain antique wood by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive humidity fluctuations, cleaning with a damp cloth only, and periodically nourishing the surface with traditional beeswax to protect the finish.
