Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian plant stand follows a French Rococo Revival style, produced around 1880. It has a brass framework finished in gold with a square white marble top and a matching marble finial on the lower stretcher tier. Decorative elements include ornate curving cabriole legs, a central mascaron mask motif beneath the top, and delicate openwork metal scrollwork. The stand measures 79 cm high with a 34 cm square base and a 25 cm square top. In a contemporary home, this piece suits an empty corner in a living room, hallway or conservatory to display plants, urns or decorative ornaments. Its slim profile and reflective golden finish bring classic elegance to traditional or eclectic interiors while offering a practical elevated display surface.

FAQs

A jardiniere stand is a raised decorative pedestal constructed to elevate potted plants, urns, or sculptures within late 19th and early 20th-century interiors.

These pieces traditionally incorporate cast brass or gilt metal frameworks, often paired with inset polished marble tops and cast embellishments.

Authentic antique examples feature hand-chased metal detailing, original cast joins, natural surface patina or oxidisation, and substantial weight due to solid brass and stone construction.

Place the stand in an empty corner, foyer, or bay window to display trailing houseplants, a porcelain vase, or a classical stone bust.

Dust regularly with a soft dry microfibre cloth and clean marble components with a pH-neutral stone cleaner while avoiding abrasive polishes that remove natural aged patina.
