A genuine Belgian flintlock sea service pistol, dating to around 1800 and presented in wonderfully untouched, as-found condition. This robust naval pattern features the characteristic heavy walnut stock, full brass furniture and large plain steel lock typical of Continental maritime issue.
The lock is currently frozen, with all components present but seized through age and long-term storage. The stock shows honest wear, numerous surface marks and the deep patination expected of an uncleaned example. Barrel and metalwork retain a dry, untouched surface throughout.
These working sea pistols were produced for hard service aboard ships, where corrosion, salt exposure and rough handling were a daily reality—surviving, unaltered examples such as this are increasingly scarce.
