Plaue Schierholz Large Musical Putti Centrepiece, C.1900

£500    $667    €584
A finely detailed early twentieth-century musical centrepiece by C. G. Schierholz & Sohn, Plaue, dating to around 1900. The wide reticulated bowl sits above a substantial wreath of applied roses and foliage, and below it four musical putti form a complete ensemble. The modelling and pastel palette are typical of Plaue work from this period, and such pieces were classified by the factory as “Prachtstücke”, intended for formal interiors and special occasions.

These elaborate centrepieces occupied the upper tier of the Plaue manufactory’s output and remain desirable examples of Dresden/Rococo Revival design.
