Edwardian furniture, produced between 1901 and 1910, often combined lighter, less ornate proportions than Victorian pieces with references to earlier historical revivals, such as Georgian and Jacobean styles.

Makers predominantly used solid English oak, alongside brass fittings, cast iron hooks, and occasionally walnut or mahogany for higher-end domestic fixtures.

Authentic pieces typically feature solid timber construction, hand-cut joinery, period brass or cast iron hardware with natural oxidisation, and mounting brackets appropriate to the early 20th century.

Mounting the piece in a contemporary hallway or entrance lobby adds texture, warmth, and functional storage, contrasting cleanly against neutral painted walls.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry cloth and occasionally applying natural beeswax to nourish the wood, avoiding direct sunlight and excessive moisture.
