A very rare 19th Century well figured olive wood flip top table of exceptional quality, finely hand carved with beautifully rich patination, fine grain, line inlaid with rosewood crossbanding and highly marquetry inlaid with exquisite panels and detail throughout. The moulded line inlaid hinged top of circular form with a serpentine edge is fitted with a tilting mechanism that allows its top to be positioned in upright orientation and is adorned to the central reserve with a stunning pastoral scene depicting a flock of birds nestling in a field amongst the grasses, wheat sheafs, daisies and foliate, encircled within a marquetry inlaid border featuring gorgeous swags of richly scrolling foliate and flowers with tied ribbon motif detail. The elegantly simple ring turned baluster pod is finely carved with foliate motif detail in low relief above trefoil base, terminating on gracefully tapering out-splayed panelled legs with decorative scroll, sphere and foliate motifs.
