We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The Arts and Crafts movement emerged in the late 19th century as a reaction against mass production, emphasising handcraftsmanship, traditional woodworking techniques, and the natural grain of materials like oak.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid quarter-sawn oak, utilising traditional joinery and hand-turned bases with concealed internal pivots to allow smooth rotation.

Authenticity is identified through age-appropriate patination, tool marks from hand-turning, traditional timber shrinkage, and older mechanical bearing systems rather than modern synthetic ball bearings.

It can be placed on a central dining table or kitchen island as a functional centrepiece, holding condiments or ceramics while adding organic warmth to the scheme.

Preservation requires regular treatment with food-safe mineral oil or beeswax to nourish the wood, avoiding soaking in water, and keeping the item away from direct heat sources.
