Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Doulton Burslem produced decorative ceramic items, including jardinieres, in Staffordshire during the late nineteenth century. Jardinieres were created specifically to display potted indoor plants, reflecting the Victorian fascination with botany and ornamental home decoration.

These vessels were typically formed from earthenware or bone china, finished with multi-layered glazes, heavy gilding, and raised enamel decoration. The patterns were often applied using transfer printing combined with hand-painted highlights.

Authentic items generally display printed or impressed maker marks on the base, such as the Doulton Burslem backstamp used between 1882 and 1902. Shape numbers, pattern codes, and decorator initials are also commonly found stamped or painted on the underside.

A ceramic jardiniere functions as a centerpiece on a sideboard, console table, or deep window sill. It can be paired with potted ferns or used as an independent decorative accent within traditional or modern eclectic schemes.

Clean gently using a soft, dry cloth or a slightly damp microfibre cloth with warm water. Avoid chemical detergents, abrasive pads, and prolonged soaking, as these can wear down delicate gilding and surface enamelling.
