FAQs

Victorian furniture, spanning the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901, is characterised by sturdy construction, rich timber tones, and functional adaptations designed for urban domestic spaces.

Cabinet makers typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, walnut, and oak, often paired with secondary softwoods for interior framing and turned legs.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut joinery, timber shrinkage patterns, traditional patina, and period-specific hinge mechanisms rather than modern machine screws.

This piece works effectively as a compact dining solution or a console surface, contrasting traditional dark wood grains against minimalist modern seating and neutral walls.

Preserve the timber by avoiding direct sunlight and excessive moisture, applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the grain without building up synthetic residues.
