Antique Early Treen 17thc Fruitwood Raised Table Salt. English C1670-90

Description

Here is a rare chance to buy a very early piece of table treen from the late 17thc....it is a pole-lathe turned "standing salt" made from finest English cherrywood ....it has a large "chuck" hole in the base, typical of 17thc pieces of treen and stands on a raised base with a vase - shaped bowl and there is a similar example in "Owen Evan-Thomas book on Domestic Utensils Of Wood", page 117 Plate 45 F....it has gained a wonderful colour / patination and is in nice condition.
