FB Antiques has dated this Boulle Marquetry Card Table to the Victorian era.
Stock No.: S27-1074
The serpentine top and frieze are beautifully inlaid with red tortoiseshell and brass Boulle marquetry of scrolling foliage and cherubs, bordered by ebony and framed with finely cast gilt-bronze mounts. The table opens to reveal its original vibrant red baize playing surface, framed by further Boulle marquetry. Standing on elegant cabriole legs with gilt sabots, this table exemplifies the luxurious craftsmanship for which Edwards & Roberts were renowned. Minor losses to the top, as photographed, do not detract from the overall appearance.
