Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This 1910 French Neoclassical drinks trolley or etagere functions as a small three-tier serving cart. The structure consists of warm gold brass and steel framing, supporting three circular glass tiers with silver-toned pierced gallery rims. Small ball finials top each vertical post, and the base rests on four pivoting swivel castor wheels with small rubber-edged metal wheels. The materials show a mixed metallic finish with polished brass supports and patinated steel hardware. Measuring 58.4 cm high, 30.5 cm wide, and 30.5 cm deep, the compact footprint fits easily into narrow spaces. In a contemporary home, this trolley sits comfortably in an empty corner as a display stand or serving surface in a living room, dining area, or home bar. The reflective glass shelves and metallic framework provide storage for glassware and bottles while maintaining an open visual presence. The compact proportions make the piece suitable for placement alongside seating or against apartment walls where floor space is limited.

FAQs

Emerging in popularity during the early to mid-twentieth century, drinks trolleys were designed as mobile serving stations for entertaining guests. Metal and glass constructions offered a functional aesthetic influenced by Art Deco and Neoclassical design movements.

Vintage bar carts typically incorporate brass-plated or solid brass tubular frames paired with glass or mirrored shelving. Features often include pierced gallery rails to secure bottles, decorative corner finials, and omnidirectional swivel castors.

Authentic vintage pieces frequently show natural patination or mild oxidisation on the brass frame rather than a uniform synthetic coating. Additionally, examine the construction for threaded joinery, heavy brass fittings, and aged metal wheel assemblies.

A brass drinks trolley functions as an accent piece in a living room, dining area, or alcove. It can be arranged with decanters, crystal glassware, and cocktail accessories on the upper tiers, while bottles reside on the lower shelf.

Clean the glass panels using a lint-free cloth and mild glass cleaner, taking care not to overspray onto the metal frame. Dust the brass structure regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and avoid abrasive chemical polishes that may strip lacquered finishes.
