A fine pair of early 19th century French Empire period gilt bronze ormolu bookends depicting seated classically dressed putti reading books. Possibly removed from a library clock and remounted on later substantial marbre vert, green marble, block bases. Superb quality bronzes finely chased. Heavy effective bookends, the perfect finishing touch for your collection of Empire reference books. France, circa 1815.
