Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Rose Medallion is a decorative style of Chinese export porcelain developed in the 19th century, predominantly for European and American markets. It features vibrant overglaze enamel panels showing human figures inside court settings alternating with panels of birds, butterflies, and floral motifs around a central medallion.

Pieces were crafted from hard-paste porcelain clay and fired at high temperatures. Artisans then applied colourful overglaze enamels, dominated by pink copper-based pigments and green iron-based enamels, often finished with hand-gilded details.

Authentic 19th-century examples display hand-painted decoration with slight variations in brushwork, heavy visual weight, and unglazed foot rims showing age-appropriate wear. Early pieces typically lack country-of-origin marks, as mandatory import stampings such as CHINA were introduced later in 1891.

Large export bowls serve as focal points when positioned empty on a dining table, sideboard, or entrance hall table. The vibrant polychrome enamels contrast effectively against both modern polished timber surfaces and minimalist contemporary backdrops.

Dust gently with a clean, soft microfibre cloth to protect the delicate overglaze enamels and original gilding. Avoid immersion in water, chemical cleaners, or mechanical washing, as liquid can penetrate fine surface crazing and damage fragile decorative layers.
