Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

In 19th-century households and bakeries, prep tables served as dedicated work surfaces for kneading dough, shaping loaves, and preparing food. They were built with sturdy frames and thick tops to withstand repetitive physical labour.

Traditional prep tables were crafted from dense, durable timbers such as oak, pine, elm, or beech. Construction techniques typically included mortise and tenon joinery, sturdy stretchers, and solid wooden drawer pegs for longevity.

Authentic 19th-century pieces often exhibit hand-planed surfaces, drawer construction with hand-cut dovetails, and light wear along the lower stretchers and legs consistent with daily use over decades.

An antique prep table functions effectively as a kitchen island, hallway console table, or sideboard in a dining room. Its long profile and lower stretcher allow for open storage while adding texture to contemporary spaces.

Maintain the timber by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood. Avoid exposure to excess moisture, direct heat sources, and harsh chemical cleaners.
