FAQs

Antique wooden presses were traditionally used in offices for copying documents, in binderies for flattening and securing book signatures, or domestically for preserving botanical specimens.

These items are typically constructed from dense hardwoods such as oak, beech, or sycamore, featuring hand-turned threaded wooden screws and mortise and tenon joints.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut wooden threads with minor irregularities, natural wear patterns, aged patina, and traditional joinery rather than modern metal fixtures or machine-tooled plastics.

This object can be displayed on a bookshelf, desk, or mantelpiece as a sculptural decorative element that introduces historical character and tactile warmth to a room.

Maintain the wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations, applying microcrystalline wax occasionally to nourish the surface without sealing it.
